Marianne Rose

I was born in Buleni. I am the only girl in my family because I have seven brothers. My father died a long time ago. My mother is very poor and was unable to continue paying for school fees when I was in class 6. But I was able to come to Mahenzo and now I am in class 12. My life is not all that good, but I am being assisted by the school. Since I began coming to school here, the academics have really improved, and the teachers are very well trained. I am given guidance and counseling from the teachers. If I have a problem, I can talk to someone and then it is solved. That helps me continue in my studies.

If I could encourage younger students, I would tell them to work hard. I hope they never feel negative about education because it is the only provision for you when you get old. You also have to have a big faith in God.

When I came to Mahenzo, I was not a Christian. But my Religion classes inspired me to become a Christian. My faith has been strengthened here. Mahenzo has a Christian Union and I am the leader now!

I am hoping to join university next year. I want to become a nurse. I like that Idea. I want to treat unhealthy, elderly people. No one in my community is a nurse. My favorite subject is English, and I really like to sing. My name is Marianne Rose, and my story is not over.
